Review: Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion (W13)

*This review was sponsored by Twofacemall. All thoughts and opinions expressed are mine and 100% honest.

This is quite a late review considering that Etude House released this sometime in the fall last year and so many people have reviewed it already, but another review couldn't hurt right? ^^;

I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with the cushion foundation now, so I won't go into any details. Basically it's a cushion soaked with foundation, BB cream, or CC cream that is placed in a compact case. Air puffs are always included and they help give a flawless finish. Anyways without further ado let's begin with the review~

Some pictures were taken on different days under terrible lighting so please excuse the bad quality > <

Sides

 The compact case is a pretty pearly-white color with the words and logo design in silver. It's a little bit bulky in my opinion but the diameter of it fits in the palm of your hand.

The cushion part of the case is removable so that way you don't need to buy a new case when you run out. Simply push the bottom of the case up and the cushion will come out ^^

When you first open the cushion there's a sticker on the top of it.

Just peel off the sticker and you can start using the cushion ^^ Make sure that you close the protective lid on the inside of the case tightly to ensure that the cushion doesn't dry out.

Here's a close-up of the cushion. It looks really similar to a sponge lol

I'm not really sure how to describe the scent of this since it's not floral or the typical baby powder smell you'd expect from BB creams. It's light but not exactly a pleasant scent, although since you can't smell it at all after applying it, the scent doesn't bother me too much.

As you can see from the foundation on the included air puff, this does have a yellow undertone.

The coverage is build able from low to medium, however I wouldn't suggest applying too much since it can appear cakey. It doesn't cover pores that well, but if you have some slight redness then it does cover that quite a bit.

The texture isn't as thick as BB creams and it does seem to contain more moisture than BB creams as well. And since you're using an air puff to apply the foundation it's also really easy to apply and doesn't look streaky. But it does accentuate dry patches so people with dry skin should use a good moisturizer before applying this to their face. The finish of this is slightly matte and not too dewy.

I like the finish of this product but I don't really like how you can feel like you're wearing something (although that might just be me because I don't wear makeup often ^^;). This doesn't really have any sebum control since my T-zone still got oily after a couple of hours. This does brighten up my skin though, and the amount of coverage it gives is nice for a natural look, but if you're looking for something with medium-high or full coverage then this isn't the product for you.

I love how convenient it is to carry around and how I don't need to use my fingers to apply the foundation. However the air puff does get dirty easily > < If you're really careful you might not get it dirty but even then it's difficult to prevent the foundation from getting onto the white area (top) of the puff.

Pros:
-SPF 50+/PA+++
-Cheaper than other cushions
-Easy to apply
-Convenient
-Brightens skin
-Not too dewy
-No lingering scent
-Pretty packaging
-Didn't break me out

Cons:
-A bit bulky
-Air puff gets dirty easily
-Accentuates dry patches
-No sebum control
-Looks cakey if you try to get higher than medium coverage
-Feels like I'm still wearing something
-Doesn't cover pores well

Overall Score: 3.5/5

Repurchase? Nope. It is a nice product especially for its price so I would recommend this to people who are hesitant on trying a cushion foundation, but this just isn't quite what I'm looking for. ^^;

I'm so sorry for being inactive for such a long time ;__; If you guys think that I sound very boring in this review (there might be some grammar errors too OTL) then you're probably right since I'm writing this really late and I've been busy and tired lately. A lot of things happened the past few weeks that have kept me really occupied. > < Luckily spring break starts the week after next week so you'll see me post a lot during that time. ^^

Thanks for reading!

  1. Thanks for reviewing this. I keep seeing really positive and really negative reviews for cushions it seems, but from what I can tell the negative seems to always weigh more than the positive. I'm passing on this trend.

  2. From my experiences so far I think you won't be missing out too much by skipping this trend. ^^; I feel like they're always exaggerating a bit when they list so many multi-functions.

  3. Welcome back! I can relate to you being so tired and busy so I just hope that when your spring break starts, you'll get plenty of well deserved rest!

    I believe I got the Etude House Precious Mineral Any Cushion as a present but I haven't tried it out yet. So your review has made me interested in trying it out to see if we have similar experiences. I sometimes have stubborn dry patches so I'm a bit worried about that...I've tried the Iope Air Cushion XP and it's pretty good in my opinion.

  4. Thanks. Your review was really helpful. However, you should try out the mamonde real skin founder. It's honestly amazing and so easy to apply.

  6. Thanks Catherine :)

    I really want to try the IOPE Air Cushion since I've heard so many positive things about it. It's so expensive though > < I think if you moisturize well then it shouldn't be too big of a problem ^^; I'll be looking forward to hearing about your experiences with the Any Cushion!
