Memebox Superbox #53 My Honey Box Review

The box featured was provided for review by Memebox All thoughts and opinions expressed are based on my experiences and 100% honest.

Hello December, goodbye November! And the countdown to Christmas begins...

When I first saw that I received the My Honey Box from Memebox, I was so excited that I was jumping around as I opened it. Honey is one of my favorite skincare ingredients due to its many benefits such as brightening, nourishing, and repairing damaged skin. It's also full of antioxidants that help give your skin that youthful, radiant look. So it was without hesitation that I plunged into this box and began testing the products immediately. I've used these products for a little more than 2 weeks, so I would say that I've experience most of the effects each product has. So without further ado, let's begin this review! But before that, here's a little information about Memebox for those who aren't familiar with them:

Memebox, pronounced "Mi-mi-box", is a Korean beauty box and e-commerce retailer that is based in Korea. Currently the #1 beauty box provider in Korea, they started shipping to the US and other countries (see the list here to see which countries they ship to) back in November 2013. They do not offer monthly subscription plans, but they're constantly releasing new boxes every month. At the moment they carry four different types of beauty boxes:
  • Memebox Global BoxThe original Memebox ($23 + shipping) that comes with 4-8 full-sized products and deluxe samples.
  • Memebox Special Edition: Designed to meet various concerns, beauty trends, and seasonal needs, this box also comes with 4-8 full-sized products and deluxe samples. The prices range from ~$19-$32 + shipping.
  • Superbox: Made up of full-sized products only, each Superbox comes with its own theme, designed to target specific concerns or collaborations with a brand. Prices start at ~$19 + shipping.
  • Luckybox: Products in this box are based on selections from past Memeboxes. Luckyboxes aren't released as frequently as the other boxes, and are priced at $23 + shipping with 4-8 full-sized products and deluxe samples.
In addition to beauty boxes, Memebox also has a Memeshop where they sell products from numerous Korean cosmetic and skincare brands. The box I will be reviewing today is a Superbox.

Here's the information card included in the box. From what it seems, every product in every box Memebox provides me for review from now on will be sold on their website. BUT. In order for Memebox to stock the product, you have to place the product in your wishlist. So if there are any products in this box that interest you, simply click on the link that I'll be including to view the product and add it to your wishlist!

1. MIGABEE Antipollution RE-Peeling
미가비 비베놈 필링 (필오프팩)
Size: 100ml
Price: 31,000원 | $37 on Memebox

Please excuse the lighting in some of these pictures. It's been awfully dark and dreary this past week in Cali. OTL
I've never tried a peel-off pack before so I was pretty excited to try this out. This contains honey, bee venom, propolis, and royal jelly- all the good honey-related ingredients combined into one product! Does it actually work though?

... sort of.

As you see, the texture of this pack is really similar to glue. In fact, although at first whiff it has a floral scent, it even smells similar to glue once you apply it on your face. Once it's on, your skin feels sticky and becomes tighter as the pack dries. Not exactly the most pleasant scent and feeling ever. However I'll let it pass because this does a great job in calming my skin! I had a pimple on my face when I was using it one day, and after peeling the pack off it was visibly less red and smaller in size. It doesn't really live up to its claims unfortunately, for I don't find it exfoliating enough (even though I have sensitive skin) and it doesn't really do anything for blackheads and whiteheads. I will keep using it though since it works well in calming any breakouts, but if you're looking for something that will help you get rid of those pesky blackheads then I'd suggest you look elsewhere because this isn't it.

2. Mi Click Manuka Honey Treatment
미클릭 마누카 허니 트리트먼트
Size: 30ml
Price: 2,800원 | $5 on Memebox

I've never used any sort of hair treatment before (unless shampoo and conditioner counts), since I don't have dry or damaged hair. Well, that and also because of my laziness. You're supposed to wash your hair, towel dry it, rub this treatment in your hair and leave it for 5-10 minutes, and then wash it off. Too much work if you ask me, so I just rubbed it in after washing my hair and didn't bother drying it. Let me just start off with saying that I don't like the scent of this one. It's a heavy floral scent that doesn't have a hint of manuka honey in it. I'm not saying it should smell like honey, but most manuka honey products I've tried usually smell really good. This one does not. People who like floral scents would probably like it though.

The treatment just looks like a regular conditioner- thick and creamy. My hair is noticeable silkier and softer after using it, so I would say it does its job. I wouldn't buy this, mostly because I don't like the scent nor do I find its effects better than any other good conditioner out there, but I wouldn't not use it either.

3. Enesti Apple & Honey Shea Butter Hand Cream
에네스티 핸드크림 사과&꿀
Size: 50g
Price: 4,000원 | $5 on Memebox

I'm not sure why the actual packaging is different from the one Memebox pictured on the information card but... OMG THIS SMELLS SO AMAZING. It smells like tart apples with a hint of honey- yum! Although I barely ever use hand cream, I've used this quite a few times now just because I love the scent.

The hand cream itself is also really nice. It's moisturizing but not sticky, unlike another shea butter hand cream I've tried before from L'Occitane.  For $5 this is a good deal, and I would highly recommend this if you're a fan of apple scents. You won't be disappointed!

4. From Nature Multi Effect Collagen Honey Mask
프럼네이처 멀티 이펙트 콜라겐 허니 마스크
Size: 1 mask
Price: 1,000원 | $1 on Memebox

According to the description, this mask not only contains honey and collagen but also 9 different herbal ingredients. The description makes it seem so nice and the smell is nice (as all manuka honey masks seem to be), but this mask just isn't for me. It's a little too big and the cloth is a bit thick and scratchy, so it wasn't very comfortable for me. On top of that, since this mask is so saturated with essence, I had to fix it a few times while it was on my face since it kept on slipping. The mask left my face feeling sticky and overly moisturized. The effects weren't that impressive either. In this case, I'd rather use Innisfree masks that cost about the same but with higher quality. I think people with dry skin would appreciate how moisturizing it is, but people with oily skin definitely wouldn't.

5. EDMONG Honeybee Water Cream
에드몽 허니비 워터 크림
Size: 50ml
Price: 25,000원 | $29 on Memebox

"Enriched with honey extracts, natural spring water, propolis extracts, aloe vera water, hyaluronic acid, and green tea extracts, this Honeybee Water Cream is a fast-absorbing moisturizer which strengths the skin’s natural restorative properties. It’s free of paraben, artificial coloring, mineral oil, benzophenone, BHT, talc, etc. "

Just from the main ingredients itself, I thought that this was going to be amazing. I like honey, propolis is even better, and to top that all off there are green tea extracts(!). The packaging is cute and although the jar looks like it's made of glass, it's actually just thick, sturdy plastic, which makes it more travel-friendly albeit still a bit bulky.

There's a inner lid, but in the beginning there was too much cream in there so I couldn't push down the lid without the cream squeezing out over the edges.

Doesn't it look like golden jelly? The texture of the cream is actually quite watery and very similar to aloe gel creams. Even the finish feels like aloe gel creams- one that people often describe as a bit tacky. Also, this smells like the Etude House Collagen Moistfull Cream- a fresh, light citrus scent. A little goes a long way. It's light and not oily, something that people with oily skin will really like.  People with dry skin will not like this at all since it's not very moisturizing. Unfortunately though from my experience I'd say this cream is just average. It moisturizes, but that's it. Nothing special. I wouldn't not recommend this cream (in fact, I think it'd be great for summer), but I wouldn't go out of my way to buy it.

6. DAYCELL Essential Honey Lift Massage Cream
데이셀 에스테니끄 에센셜 허니20% 리프팅 수면 마사지팩
Size; 150ml
Price: 15,000원 | $20 on Memebox

Although this is called a "massage cream", I think of this more as a sleeping pack/cream. Why? Well, with most massage creams that I know of, they all require you to wash it off after massaging it over your face. However with this one, you just leave it on and go to bed. This is supposedly perfect for dehydrated, sagging skin, and contains 20% vital honey complex. I'm not sure what "vital honey complex" is, but it sounds nice and it contains honey so why not?

The texture of this is really weird. At first when you squeeze it out, it just looks and feels like a regular lotion. However, once you place your finger on it and pull up, it stretches a lot. It's interesting and actually kind of fun to play with. lol The texture isn't sticky at all though, and it spreads really easily. I thought this might be a bit too much for my combination skin, but it's just right if I apply a thin layer of it in replacement of my regular cream. My skin feels so smooth and soft the next morning, and it looks a little "plumper". I don't really know how well it works for sagging skin since I'm not at that age yet where I do have sagging skin, but I would say this worth a try.

7. Pure Smile Snail Lip Treatment Honey
퓨어스마일 스네일 립트리트먼트 허니
Size: 10g
Price: 2,500원 | $5 on Memebox

The first thought that popped into my mind when I saw this was "Snail mucus on my lips?!" Although it's a different and new way of using snail extract, it didn't stop me from trying this. Then again the idea of putting snail mucus on my skin never fazed me so.... /shrug. I don't know, snail slime just never seemed gross nor unappealing to me. Anyone else like that? Or did everyone else initially react with disgust or horror to rubbing snail slime over their skin?

This is pretty similar to a clear lip gloss in terms of texture and looks. It has a faint, honey scent that's also slightly floral. I've been using this at night and it does a decent job in moisturizing my lips. When I first apply it to my lips I don't really feel anything, but after a little bit there's this cooling effect.

It gets super dry here in the winter since the heater is turned on, and one morning when I woke u, yawned, and my lips cracked. Ouch. Since this contains snail mucus, I wondered if it'd help heal my lips better. Lo and behold, the crack healed in 2 days. I'm not sure if it's mainly because of this or not, but I'll give it some credit. This is okay for an everyday lip treatment, but if you're looking for an intensive moisturizer then this isn't for you.

My thoughts:

Although there were products I didn't love in this box, there's nothing in here that I wouldn't use. Plus every product did include honey, so I would say this is a well curated box overall! I didn't break out from any of the skincare products, and I've found my favorite hand cream (for now). I definitely wouldn't have minded spending $29 + shipping on this box since it's a good value and worth the money.

Unfortunately the My Honey Box is sold out now, and there doesn't seem to be any Memeboxes available at the moment other than the CutiePieMarzia 2 Box. However Memebox did recently release their own eyeshadows and blushes so be sure to check them out! There are also some great value sets in the USA Shop. Furthermore, be on the lookout for "12 Days of Very Merry Deals & Offers" with Memebox starting December 9th till December 24th!

You can use my codR93YHH to receive $5 off any orders over $30 if you're planning to make a purchase any time during the month of December. It's active from now through December 31st!

What do you think of this Memebox? Which product(s) would you be interested in trying?
