Unboxing: MEMEBOX 4th Edition

*Warning: Spoiler Ahead! Do NOT read if you don't want to ruin the surprise.

Hello everyone! Sorry for my lack of posts lately (which will probably continue until March due to various reasons. I'm sorry > <). I was just about to go crazy from working on my To Kill A Mockingbird essay so this break was greatly welcomed (although I ended up spending too much time taking pictures). Don't get me wrong, it's a good book, but once you have to write a 7-page essay on it well... let's just say it takes away all the fun.

Today I'll be showing you guys what products were included in the MEMEBOX (미미박스) 4th Edition. If you don't know what Memebox is, they are an online beauty retailer that offers beauty boxes. Right now they currently ship to the following countries:  Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Croatia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Hungary, Iceland, India, Indonesia, Ireland, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russian federation, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, UK, US, Vietnam. Each Memebox costs $23, and shipping costs $6.99 (free upgrade to EMS). Unfortunately MEMEBOX #1-6 are all sold out, but you can order #5-2 (with a couple products different from #5)#6-2 (identical to #6 except for one product), and #7. I would hurry though if I were you, since box #6 sold out within a day.

Anyways~ onto the actual box!

Shipped: 01/29/2014
Received: 02/01/2014
They currently offer a free upgrade to EMS shipping, which is why I was able to receive the box so quickly. I don't know how long this offer will last, but hopefully it's here to stay for a long time.

Dimensions: 21 cm x 16.2 cm x 7 cm
Oh gosh what happened to the color/lightening here?
The lighting for a couple of these pictures are just terrible and weird. It wasn't until I noticed what a beautiful sunny day it was that I decided to take pictures outside. Too bad it was quite windy as well.

The information card that tells you about all the products.
How the box looks when you first open it. The information card was on top.
This time there were a total of 10 products, which according to MEMEBOX, is the largest number of products in any edition thus far.

Here are the products:

1. Goodal Repair Plus Essential Oil
Size: 15 ml (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $7.20

Description: A fast-absorbing multi-use essential oil derived from argan, olive, macadamia, sun flower seeds, jojoba, camellia, and green tea. This combination of oil from these super-seeds hydrates, firms and enhances the skin's complexion.

How to use: After washing thoroughly, apply 1-2 drops on your face. You can also apply to hair, nails and cuticles.

I was actually somewhat expecting this product since I saw it in the Korean January MEMEBOX. I've never heard of Goodal before, but I'm willing to give this a try since it has so many beneficial oils. I'm not sure how to describe the smell, but it's very faint and kind of herbal? It's not really noticeable unless you lean in really close.

2. LJH Dr's Care Vita Propolis Ampoule
Size: 5 ml (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $8.67

Description: This perfect combination of vitamins and propolis harvested by bees bring out the natural, healthy luminosity of your face. High concentration of propolis in the hermetically sealed ampoule hydrates, soothes and protects your skin. Suitable for sensitive skin.

How to use: Apply 2-3 drops on your face. You can wear this product alone, although it is highly recommended to mix with your facial lotion or hydrating cream.

Once again I was somewhat expecting this. I'm actually really excited to try this out because I've heard about how good propolis is for your skin. I'm not sure how else to describe this scent as other than fresh. It doesn't really have a scent which is good. Surprisingly it feels really moisturizing.

3. Lanoa Natural Soap Sulfur
Size: 100g (Full Size)
Worth: $12

Description: 100% natural handmade soap featuring powerful natural ingredients: sulfur, shea butter, chamomile and lavender. It is specially designed for sensitive and dry skin by hydrating on the surface as well as underneath the skin's barrier. Surfactant free, artificial fragrance free, preservative free.

How to use: Lather and gently massage soap onto your wet face. For sensitive skin, we recommend up to 20 seconds of massaging daily.

This is the last product I was somewhat expecting (I promise!). I've never used soap to wash my face before so this is definitely something new to me. This is also the first time I've ever heard of sulfur in a skincare product (or maybe I was just extremely ignorant back then). But it seems like sulfur is really good for acne treatment so I wouldn't mind giving this a try. The scent is what's kind of stopping me from trying this. I really dislike the scent of lavender which is what this smells strongly of (in order to mask the smell of sulfur perhaps?).

4. The Shampoo Plus Natural Waterless Shampoo
Size: 50ml (Full Size)
Worth: $5

Description: Made out of oregano, this foam-based dry shampoo allows you to cleanse your hair anywhere without water. It also protects your hair from harmful UV rays, and enhances scalp and hair follicle health with anti-oxidant properties/ Ethonal free, petroleum free, silicon free, artificial pigment free, surfactant free.

How to use: Pump into your hands and gently massage the foam into your hair and scalp. Wait until dry. No rinse required.

I've been wanting to try out a dry shampoo for awhile now so this was a nice surprise. It definitely felt a bit out of place and random, but oh well. The scent is exactly like any Listerine product in Cool Mint. In other words, it smells extremely minty but it seems like the scent disappears once you rub it into your hair. I think this will be really nice when you're traveling.

5. Clio VF 21 Water BB SPF35 PA++
Size: 15ml (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $6

Description: Ultra-hydrating BB cream designed for dry skin with SPF35, PA++. It gives you a natural dewy glow with long-lasting, medium coverage. Enhances skin complexion and fights against wrinkles.

How to use: Apply to face evenly using sponge or fingertips.

I've heard a lot of good things about Clio's makeup products so I'm pretty pleased to receive this product. When I swatched it on my hand I was really surprised by how light and creamy it was, and how it instantly brightened my skin. If it doesn't break me out or make my face oily I might actually consider buying the full size product. It smells like sunscreen which is kind of strange since it doesn't have high SPF.

6. IOPE Bio Essence Intensive Conditiong
Size: 18ml (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $6.43

Description: Intensive skin-enhancing program, clearing and smoothing skin texture within 3 days. Fast-absorbing active ingredients instantly regenerates the skin.

How to use: Saturate a cotton pad with IOPE Bio Essence and gently press into the skin all over your face. Apply twice a day, morning and evening.

Now this I'm extremely excited to try. I've heard so much about this essence so I'm wondering if it really is that amazing. 3 days seems like a bit of an exaggeration to me, but I guess it could be possible. It comes with a couple of cotton pads that I won't be using because I feel like cotton pads causes you to waste a lot of product. No scent.

7. Laneige Snow Crystal Pure Lip Gloss
Size: 3g (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $12

Description: Gel-based, high-sheen lip gloss formulated to smooth the surface texture of your lips. Rosy tint and micro glitter creates the illusion of a full, juicy kiss.

How to use: Apply straight from the tube, alone or over your favorite lipstick with fingertips. Reapply as necessary.

I don't like lip gloss so sadly I probably won't be using this product much. I just hate the micro glitters inside them, and the texture of lip gloss in general. Other than that to color is very pretty.

8. T.E.N Cemorlab Mineral Treatment Essence
Size: 100ml (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $13.33

Description: Start your day with essence derived from theraputic hot spring water to hydrate, tighten pores, brighten and even complexion. Paraben free, artificial pigment free, fragrance free, denatured alcohol free.

How to use: Apply evenly to face and neck with cotton pad immediately after washing thoroughly with warm water.

First off, the packaging is so beautiful~ Even though it's made of plastic it still looks a bit luxurious. When I tried a drop of this on my hand it was quite hydrating. Even though it's only 100ml, this will probably take me a really long time to finish. In this case I might review it even though I don't review samples.

9. Peripera Peri's Tint Mini Mandarin Juice
Size: 2.5ml (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $2.69

Description: Vivid, lightweight tint gives an orange-red bite that doubles as a lip and cheek stain. Play with this transparent buildable color for casual to contemporary looks that lasts up to 5 hours!

How to use: Use applicator to dab color to bare lips or cheeks. Apple more heavily for higher saturation of color, less for natural look. Blend with fingertips to even out. Reapply as necessary.

I've been wanting to try Peripera tints since forever so I'm happy that this was included in the beauty box. The pigmentation is amazing and it does stain for a long time, so I wouldn't recommend it for your cheeks unless you have an amazing makeup remover. It smells soo good, like a fruity orange, but it does taste bitter (no I did not lick it intentionally).

10. Danahan Bon Yeon Jin Essence
Size: 12ml (Deluxe Sample)
Worth: $16.32

Description: Concentrate your skin's effort to enhance regeneration and elasticity. Thick serum is a formula made of red ginseng and herbal extracts compatible with all skin types.

How to use: Apply evenly to face and neck with hands daily after washing thoroughly.

Finally the last product! But first let's just sit back and admire the beautiful packaging. Since this is an anti-wrinkle essence I might give it to my mom since I don't need it yet. It doesn't really smell like anything bad or good, but it definitely has a scent.

Total worth: $89.64

Final Thoughts

I think this box is totally worth the price you pay! Although I admit I probably would've preferred the products in the 3rd edition, it's still nice to be able to try out brands that I've never heard about before. I really wish they would make this a monthly subscription box while keeping the option of buying it whenever you want. Unfortunately the 4th edition is no longer available but you can check out the other available editions here. You can get $5 off your first MEMEBOX just by signing up!

What about you?
What do you think of this beauty box? Would you give it a try?

  2. Aww I'm sorry to hear that. I was disappointed too when I wasn't able to get the 3rd edition. But I'm pretty sure that the next few editions are just as good or maybe even better. :)

  3. I can't even believe the value of this box. How do they make any money off it??? I got this box too and I'm so happy with it! Even if only two of the items are full size, the fact that they send it express mail internationally seriously baffles me! Are you ordering more Gloria?

  4. Aww that's too bad. I hear you on the skin sensitivities- sensitive skin is such a pain! Unfortunately they don't include full ingredient lists and only give you a general idea of the main ingredients. However sometimes they'll say if it's recommended for sensitive skin. You might be able to find the ingredients list online in Korean though. Hope that helps :)

  5. My thoughts exactly! I can never understand subscription boxes when they're worth more than 3 times the price. I love the free upgrade to EMS so I don't mind either that only 2 products are full size- the deluxe samples contain quite a lot sometimes. I'm thinking about ordering the 7th one since everything else is sold out.

  6. That's a lot of product! *-* I was going to give this box a try too but then I found out they don't ship to where I live.. which really sucks. I gotta move out of Narnia. XD Goodal is also from Club Clio Professional. If I'm not mistaken that Repair Plus Essential Oil is a new product, it was released last December, I think.
I think you're gonna love the Iope Bio Essence. It's really good but the full size is so expensive, $60.

Are you going to review the VF21 Water BB? I haven't tried any bb cream from Clio so I'm really curious about this one. :D

  7. That really does suck. Have you tried "dropping them a note" (in the bottom right corner of their site)? It seems like if you do that they might add your country to the list. I didn't know Club Clio Professional had a skincare brand haha... I always thought they only made makeup. ^^; Even if I do end up liking the IOPE Bio Essence, I probably won't buy it because like you said, it's really expensive. >__<

I could review the BB cream if you'd like. It might take a few days though, but I'll definitely review it :)

I was going to order this box but it was out of stock *-* I'm definitely going to order 7th one!

  9. Yes I like the lip tint a lot :D I just ordered the 7th edition as well, I can't believe how fast these are selling out!

  10. Such a great box! My box was kidnapped by the local post office so I haven't received it yet, but I don't mind spoilers. :) I think they are working on offering an ongoing subscription in the future, but their international business is very new (just started in October/November) so I think they're figuring out how to work out all the kinks first.

  11. Oh no! Haha I hope the evil postman gets it to you by Monday. I know that the Korean monthly Memebox has a one-time payment option where you get a discount the more months you buy (5% off 6 months, 10% off 12) so if they could do something like that I wouldn't mind either :)

  12. The box looks great. I ordered the 6th box, so I'm really curious how it will be.

  13. Wow! All of the products look great, especially for the low price~ I really want to buy one but I've ordered a lot of products lately haha... Anyways, great blog overall and I followed you! I look forward to the rest of your posts.

  14. Ooh lucky- I wasn't able to get the 6th one but I did get the 7th. I'm curious as well, all the boxes I've seen so far look amazing~

  15. Yep the total value of the box is just amazing compared to the price they sell it at. I actually have a couple of products on their way here but I'm probably going to order one every month. Lol You should definitely buy one the next time you can. Thank you for reading and following Catherine :)

  17. I'm still getting the hang of balancing blogging and school as well- in other words I have no schedule. xD I just blog whenever I can for now, but I think I'm going to start a planner or journal just for blogging soon. Science is one of my least favorite subjects mainly because it's so difficult. Lol Thank you for the encouragement :D I checked out your blog and followed.

    ReplyDelete
  18. A planner/journal sounds like a great idea :) I do agree that science is difficult but I still like it probably cause I'm a nerd lol.

Thanks for checking out my blog! I look forward to your next post~

  21. I really wanted this one but wasn't quick enough to purchase. Looks awesome !
Do the items include full ingredient lists ? I was wondering as sometimes it's difficult using Korean products that don't as I have some skin sensitivities and ingredients to avoid. >_<

    ReplyDelete
  22. LOL me too. I still have a few coming around :) I definitely will try to order one when I can.

Also, I forgot to add this to my comment but I can understand you going crazy from school work right now. I love the sciences but they are killing me right now lol~ I just started a blog and I'm finding it hard to make time to update it because of all the work. Good luck with the To Kill A Mockingbird Essay! I always sucked at writing essays so I can relate :P
